ORIGINAL FILTER TEAM REUNITES, PLANS FOLLOW-UP TO DEBUT ALBUM

The original duo that was the first incarnation of the band Filter, guitarist/singer Richard Patrick and keyboardist/guitarist Brian Liesegang, have reunited and intend to make a new album inspired by their breakthrough debut, 1995's Short Bus. Patrick posted a photo of himself with Liesegang online, stating, "Brian and I are making the official follow up to Short Bus (maybe), called Re-Bus."

  • Liesegang followed Patrick's post with one of his own on Filter's official Instagram account. He explained, "We are gearing up for official reboot of initial Filter . . . Gonna be a full length, and its hard or maybe not right to call it a sequel, as it's not so much that in that it is just a return to a certain approach and philosophy."
  • Patrick launched Filter after leaving his stint as touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails in 1993.
  • He and Liesegang recorded Short Bus the following year. The disc yielded the breakthrough hit "Hey Man Nice Shot," as well as subsequent singles "Dose" and "Under."
  • Liesegang exited the band in 1997, while Patrick continued to record six more albums with a revolving cast of musicians under the Filter name.

GODSMACK MIGHT STILL DO ANNIVERSARY TOUR IN 2019

Godsmack guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin recently told iRock Radio that while the band skipped celebrating the 20th anniversary of its debut album this year in favor of promoting the new When Legends Rise, a commemoration of some kind could come in 2019. Larkin explained, "If we put a new record out and play all of the first record, then we wouldn't really be pushing this new record . . . with that said, we hope maybe next year, after we get done with the cycle for When Legends Rise, to maybe do a tour. And by then it'll be '(second LP) Awake's 20-year anniversary. So we could do maybe a tour where we play just songs from those first two records."

  • When Legends Rise arrived April 27th and entered at Number Eight on the Billboard 200. The first single, "Bulletproof," became the latest Godsmack track to top the rock radio charts.
  • Godsmack and Shinedown recently unveiled a second North American leg to their upcoming co-headlining tour, adding a string of fall dates to the two bands' itineraries after initially hitting the road together in July. The new dates begin on September 21st in Greenville, South Carolina, ending for now on October 11th in Portland, Oregon.
