You may know a mixologist that uses nontraditional garnishes on their creations, but you've probably never seen anything quite like this. Nick Griffiths is from Bolton, Greater Manchester, and he participated in the Yukon Arctic Race back in February. Unfortunately, extreme temperatures caused the 46-year-old to leave the race and seek treatment for frostbite at a hospital. Doctors had to amputate three of his toes, but Griffiths asked if he could keep them. He sent the blackened toes to the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon.
They won't be the first amputated toes for the hotel, either. The hotel's bar has been serving up its signature Sourtoe Cocktail since 1973. The drink is basically a shot of whiskey with a shrunken human toe acting as garnish. The bar has reportedly collected about ten dismembered toes in total, and proudly displays them behind the bar on the Wall of Fame. If you're so bold as to order the drink you can become part of the Sourtoe Cocktail Club if you follow certain rules, including one that states the toe must touch your lips.
