It’s been over four decades since the world was introduced to live “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” Since then, the “Star Wars” Universe has found a way to engrain itself in just about every aspect of popular culture. Even going as far as having its own “unofficial” holiday. That celebration falls on Friday, when we all can proudly greet each other with the phrase “May the fourth be with you.”
No holiday’s complete without an appropriate beverage to properly celebrate – and this one’s no exception.
- Darth Mauled Pomegranate Cider – Easy to make with just one cup of pomegranate juice, ½ cup of apple cider, 1 shot of dark rum or whisky, and 2 teaspoons of mulling spice in a tea bag or mulling ball. Just simmer everything but the booze in a saucepan for ten minutes, then pour it into a mug and add the good stuff.
- Dark Side – 1 ½ ounces of Maker’s Mark 46, ½ ounce of black sesame orgeat, 13 dashes of Angostura bitters, 1 juiced lime, 1 pinch of activated charcoal. Just get a chilled shaker and rock it out into a chilled glass.
- Qui-Gon Gin-Singer – 2 ounces of Boylan Heritage tonic water, 2 ounces of Old Fourth Distillery gin, and 6 ounces of Banjo Sweetly Tuned cold-brew coffee. Grab a highball glass with ice and pour the tonic water over it. Then, in another mixing glass stir-up the gin and coffee, then pour it over the tonic water. Garnish it with a lemon peel.
- Kylo Rye – 2 ounces of Crater Lake rye whisky, ¼ ounce of fresh lime juice, and top it with some club soda. Grab a rocks glass and it’s easy as it sounds.
When “Solo: A Star Wars Story” his theaters later this month, that’ll make 10 movies for the franchise. With any luck, it won’t take the bartenders too much longer to catch up!
