COULD A CURE FOR THE COMMON COLD BE IN SIGHT?

A cure for the common cold might actually be a possibility soon. Researchers from Imperial College London say cold cures have been so difficult to find because the virus has hundreds of variations and evolves rapidly, which quickly causes drug resistance.

But now they’ve come up with a new treatment that targets a common protein rather than the virus itself, therefore lowering the risk of resistance. So far researchers have only tested this treatment in lab studies, and they’re hoping to test it with animals and eventually humans. It’s not clear when it might be available to the masses.
