FOO FIGHTERS' DAVE GROHL RELEASES TRAILER FOR NEW DOCUMENTARY

The film follows the frontman as he creates a long original piece, on which he plays all 7 instruments.  Grohl commented, "Play represents the personal challenge faced by all musicians, who are always striving to improve. Even now, as a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out.”

He continued, "It’s not something that you ever truly master. You’re always chasing the next challenge, and you’re always trying to find a way to improve on what you’ve learned.”

Earlier in the year he had talked about the project and said, “The best part is we’ll film everything with multiple cameras so by the end of it you will see and hear one song being played for 25 minutes, with six different Dave Groh's playing every note, on every single instrument, all the way through in one take.”

The two-part documentary will accompany the original composition, which will be released on Friday, August 10.

SIDE NOTES

  • ‘Play’ will also be transformed into an online interactive experience where viewers are able to explore Dave’s 7 performances, as well as download sheet music and learn more about local organizations working in music education.
