Let’s face it, being single sucks. But did you ever stop and wonder why you’re still single when everyone around you is coupled up or married? Well, a new poll asked people just that and some of the answers are a bit surprising.
When it comes to personality traits, not being outgoing enough is the top reason why both men and women think they are single (men 44.6%, women 43.7%), followed by low self-esteem (men 33.3%, women 31%). But when it comes to physical traits, men are more likely to say it’s because their abs aren’t toned enough (33.9%), while women are more likely to say it’s because they are too fat (36.6%).
But it turns out, a lot of people are currently single simply because they want to be. In fact, 47.5% of people say they are alone because they decided to be single, while 31.8% say it’s because they haven’t met the right person, and another 17.1% say it’s because they are currently not looking for a relationship. What’s more, 65.2% blame themselves for being single, while 26% blame the people they’ve dated, and 12.9% blame their family.
- The survey also asked people about lying on dates, and it turns out that 66.7% of men have lied, while only 57% of women have. As for what they lie about, number of sexual partners tops the list for both men and women (men 44.6%, women 44.4%). But for men the second biggest thing they lie about is income (37.5%), but for women it’s their weight (33.3%).
