China’s Going Space Alien Hunting In 2019

Chinese astronomers plan to launch a serious hunt for space aliens this year.

They'll try to make contact using the world's biggest single-dish radio telescope. The 500-meter telescope was created mainly to collect new information about galaxies, black holes, and stars but researchers won't rule out getting in touch with aliens.

The South China Morning Post reports the telescope's chief engineer, who died in 2017, said it will be used to investigate whether extraterrestrials could be sending signals, Fast Radio Bursts, to Earth.

The race is on!
