San Francisco has a POOP problem

San Francisco is known for its Golden Gate Bridge, and now also the human poop on its streets. The latter is a problem that has been increasing over time-- in 2011 there were 5,500 reports of human feces in the street, and that number jumped to over 28,000 reports last year. And that number is only the total logged by the San Francisco Department of Public Works, meaning the true total is likely much higher. It's so bad that a software engineer launched a "poop map" last year showing where the reports are concentrated, and to bring awareness to the homelessness issue in the city-- the area has just 25 public toilets for an estimated homeless population of around 7,500.
