Radio Waves Have Been Traced To A Far Away Galaxy

A mysterious burst of radio waves has been traced to a galaxy three-point-six-billion light-years from Earth. The journal Science shows that the singular burst was discovered by a radio telescope in Western Australia. Though these fast bursts aren't rare, it is the first time a single one has been traced back to its cosmic origin.

The galaxy is said to be roughly the size of our own with low star formations, suggesting that these bursts can happen in various environments. Researchers at Breakthrough Listen say this, and other bursts, could be evidence of intelligent life in the universe.
