“Joker” Scores “Best Film” At Venice Film Festival

There’s some more good news for “Joker.” Not only are the early reviews for the DC origin story still far beyond stellar, but it’s already racked up one substantial award. At the Venice Film Festival, “Joker” took the Golden Lion for “Best Film.” When he accepted the award, director Todd Phillips thanked DC and Warner Bros. for “stepping out of their comfort zone and taking such a bold swing” with it. He also thanked Joaquin Phoenix for “trusting him with his insane talent.” “Joker” hits theaters the first weekend of October.
