Pasta Straws Called ‘Stroodles’ Spotted at Bars in Italy

Italians are giving plastic straws the boot. Some bars are now using straws made out of pasta, according to a recent Reddit post. “Here in Italy bars are starting to use pasta as straws to reduce plastic use,” according to the post. “Our technology amazes the world another time.”

A London-based company called Stroodles claims users can “drink easy” and be environmentally responsible by using the flavorless and biodegradable bucatini-like pasta in cold drinks. They’re also vegan and can be easily resized to fit any drink, although they’re not recommended for hot beverages, according to the company. A box of 12 straws is available for just over $4, while 100 straws will set you back $15.85.
